Bristol born artist Nick Walker emerged from the infamous Wild Bunch/Bristol scene of the early 1980s. As a forerunner to Banksy (who has described Nick as an enigma) and the now mainstream British stencil/graffiti phenomenon, Walker has always been a pioneer in his field. In February of this year, an Independent on Sunday arts cover and the historic Bonham’s Urban Art auction (where a large Walker canvas, with an estimated price of £5,000 went for over £50,000) launched Nick Walker into orbit.
At his latest London exhibition people queued in the street for over 36 hours for the chance to acquire a Nick Walker print. This was closely followed by a sell-out show in Los Angeles. |
