Dear McEvoy - I was delighted to recieve the news that you are the proud father please congratulate Mrs. McEvoy for me and give her all my best wishes I think it a wonderfull and extraordinary feeling suddenly to become aware that there are three but soon my poor friend you will find that there are only really two as you will be completely forgotten as one out of due time. John has returned to his country seat after conveying many large canvases here he has been to Antwerp Brussels Munich Bruges Amsterdam Hague Paris Ostend Sluse Berlin Geneva Alps Pyrenees and the Baltic and never changed or moved his Gurnsey from his noble chest all the time Poor Michael Angelo must shiver in his grave at this but a man cant be top of the tree for ever the world must advance
With best wishes I am sending your letter on to Grace.
Yours sincerely
William Orpen |
